Family Counseling:
Family counseling is a sacred experience, set in the safety and privacy of my office. It is an intentional time for families to come together, to work together, and to change together. Being open with your feelings, thoughts, and experiences can make you feel very vulnerable. Doing so in the company of parents, children, or siblings can at first, add to that sense of vulnerability. It is my goal to offer your family a safe place to define your goals and then work to achieve them.
At one time or another, families encounter struggles that can feel insurmountable.
Usually, after only a few sessions, the families with whom I work, find some relief. When our time together ends, your family counseling goals can be achieved, leaving you with greater satisfaction in your relationship with each other as well as a deeper connection where understanding and empathy prevail.
Some of the common reasons families seek counseling with me include:
Resolving conflicts
Ending the cycle of repetitive tensions that seem unresolvable
Improving communication
Learning to avoid power struggles
Reducing tension in the home
Coping after a major life event such as the loss of a loved one or divorce
Parents who wish to better understand their adolescent while clearing up misunderstandings from the past
I offer a warm and welcoming approach to family therapy.
